Jubilee College of Music staff and faculty were in the East Bay this past week attending the Hymn Society of the United States and Canada's annual conference.

Entitled, "Congregational Song and the Arts: Gifts for Worship and Ministry," the 5-day conference, held at different churches near the University of California, Berkeley campus, greeted nearly 300 participants from around the nation with a program including seminars, workshops, discussion sessions, and hymn-sing festivals.

"As one attendee I spoke to commented, one of the most impressive aspects of the conference was the people's appetite to share knowledge, which was well present among all attendees," noted JCM Program Director Justin Camacho, who attended the conference alongside JCM Dean Dr. Merril Smoak. "And with so many different parts of the field represented, including academia, songwriting, publishing, and performance, the conference was a wonderful opportunity to get connected to a very established and committed group of Christians representing church music."
