In St. Louis, Mo., staff at the Jubilee Center has initiated talks with a certified music therapist about starting a music therapy program at the site. While currently awaiting ongoing renovations to be completed, the center hopes to launch the program later this fall.

The therapist expressed joy and excitement over the prospects of opening a music therapy program with the faith-based organization, expressing surprise that "something like this is coming to St. Louis." The professional health care industry in general does not allow for free expression of faith during therapy sessions.

As soon as ongoing renovations are completed the center hopes to facilitate the program and start the first music therapy sessions in the fall later this year.

The program will aim to help people improve their health in several domains such as cognitive functioning, motor skills, emotional development, social skills, and quality of life, by using methods such as free improvisation, singing, and listening to, discussing, and moving to music.
