Jubilee Chorus NYC Opens New Season with Graceful Rehearsal and Reflection

Jubilee chorus first rehearsal

Sep 30, 2016

This week Jubilee Chorus NYC began its first rehearsal with new and returning members. The rehearsal has been moved to a larger space fully equipped with a well-tuned piano, music stands, chairs, and even mirrors to let singers check their postures while singing. It is a beautiful space that God has prepared.

The first rehearsal started with the general manager's introduction. She shared the visions and mission of Jubilee World and Jubilee Chorus as well as her musical experiences. Chorus members took turn to give self-introductions. Many had received much grace from singing in a Kingdom-centered Christian chorus, and they are excited to be back for the new season.

Jubilee Chorus welcomed the newly recruited pianist, Alexander Bui, who is committed to accompany every rehearsal and concert. He is a master's student studying piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music. He was referred to Jubilee Chorus by another member in the Jubilee Orchestra. Alexander's love of music and focused prayers gave strength to the choir.

The chorus rehearsed workshopped many graceful songs under the coaching of Nitya Thomas, a member who has been involved with Jubilee for the past few seasons. Nitya worked with chorus members and Alexander with patience and grace. The songs "Standing in the Need of Prayer" and "This is Why We Sing" filled the room with beautiful melodies and a graceful atmosphere.

Please pray for Jubilee Chorus as the season progresses. God has given Jubilee many coworkers who are stepping up for new roles in the new season. May God's glory be revealed through the voices of His children.
